President Prabowo Ensures Adequate Facilities in Sekolah Rakyat

President Prabowo Subianto, Thursday (09/11), visited Sekolah Rakyat Menengah Atas (SRMA) Margaguna, South Jakarta to inspect facilities at the school. SRMA Margaguna is among Sekolah Rakyat (the People’s School), which is the Indonesian Government’s free school program aimed to provide education for pre-prosperious students, that has been in operation.
Arriving at the school at 01.30 p.m. Western Indonesian Time, the President was welcomed with spirited chants from the students. Afterwards, four female students performed the traditional Betawi dance Kembang Jatoh which reflected a sense of honor and joy of the students in welcoming the President.
During the visit, President Prabowo observed education supporting facilities including student dormitory, sports faciliities, and the like in order to ensure that facilities provided by the school allowed the students to live comfortably and study hard.
The Head of State also inspected classrooms to observe how learning and teaching activities are carried out, and called on teachers to improve the quality of learning process.
On that occasion, President Prabowo delivered his appreciation for the progress of Sekolah Rakyat program in many regions. According to him, the remarkable progress reflectes hardwork from various sides, such as Ministry of Social Affairs, Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, teachers, and student dormitory coordinators.
“Today, I inspect a people’s school. To date, 100 people schools have been in operation. Based on a report I received, the number will increase to 165 by the end of September, or in two or three weeks,” he said.
For the record, this visit not only demonstrated the Government’s attention to improve education quality and its access for all people, but also served as a commitment to strengthen the Government’s support towards initiative and program in education sector which are dire needs of the country’s young generation.
