President Prabowo Kicks Off First Overseas Working Visits
President Prabowo Subianto Friday (11/08) officially kicked off his first overseas working visits to several countries for bilateral and multilateral meetings to discuss key issues such as the economy and global geopolitics.
“I believe Indonesia’s role and stance are highly anticipated by many. This is an honor for us, and we will continue to maintain strong relations with all parties,” the President said in his statement at the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta.
The President and his entourage departed for their first destination, the People’s Republic of China (PRC), at around 10.30 Western Indonesia Time. During his visit, the President is slated to meet with President Xi Jinping.
“From Beijing, I will then fly directly to Washington D.C. to respond to an invitation from President of the United States,” he said.
Following his visit to the United States, President Subianto is scheduled to travel to Lima, Peru, to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit.
Afterwards, the President and his entourage will proceed to Brazil for the G20 Summit activities in Rio de Janeiro.
“From Brazil, I will head directly to the United Kingdom at the invitation of the Prime Minister. Afterward, I plan to make stops in several Middle Eastern countries before returning to Indonesia,” he explained.
The series of working visits is expected to mark a key step in positioning Indonesia as a strategic partner on the global stage. (BPMI Setpres/DNS) (RIF/MUR)
