Gov’t to Provide Land in Strategic Bundaran HI for Development of Islamic Organization Buildings
President Prabowo Subianto Saturday (02/07) revealed that the Government would acquire a plot of land covering 4,000 m2 in Central Jakarta’s Bundaran (Roundabout) HI for the development of buildings of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) or other Islamic organizations.
“Today, as President of the Republic of Indonesia, I secured a plot of land covering 4,000 m2 in Bundaran HI area for the development of buildings for MUI or other Islamic organizations such as the National Alms Agency (BAZNAS), Islamic mass organizations, and others that are in need of space,” the President said in his remarks at the event entitled “United in Prayer for the Safety of the Nation, along with the Consolidation and Formal Introduction of the Executive Board of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) for the 2025–2030 Term of Office”, held at the Istiqlal Mosque, Jakarta.
According to the President, the building will be designed in accordance with functional requirements, with a planned height of approximately 40 floors, in line with the aspirations previously conveyed by the Grand Imam of the Istiqlal Mosque, who also serves as Minister of Religious Affairs, Nasaruddin Umar.
The President also emphasized that the presence of this building is expected to serve as a symbol of the presence and strategic role of Islamic institutions.
“There should not only be luxury hotels and shopping malls at the Bundaran HI area. There should also be a building designated for Islamic institutions,’ he added.
In addition to serving as a center for institutional activities, the building is also planned to support an institution to be established for the more integrated management of community religious funds, adding that he has received reports indicating that if such funds are managed properly and professionally, their potential could reach hundreds of trillions of rupiah annually, which could then be utilized for the benefit of the Muslim community.
Also on that occasion, President Prabowo Subianto called on all Muslim community to strengthen their harmony and resolve differences through dialogue and consensus for the safety of the nation. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (RAS/EP)
