Gov’t Ensures Expansion of Village Electricity Access and National Energy Resilience

President Prabowo Subianto summoned Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia to the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday (07/28) to discuss a number of strategic programs in the energy sector, ranging from accelerating equal access to electricity across villages, developing new and renewable energy, to strengthening national energy supply resilience.

In his statement after the meeting, Bahlil said that one of the programs discussed was the village electricity program. According to him, the program has now reached more than 1,400 villages across Indonesia.

“We know that there are around 11,000 villages that still do not have electricity. In 2025, the program has reached more than 1,400 villages,” Bahlil said.

In addition, regarding the development of new and renewable energy, he said that the implementation of the 100-gigawatt solar power plant (PLTS) project will soon enter the construction stage through its first groundbreaking.

“Second, we also discussed the implementation of the 100-gigawatt PLTS, which will soon begin with the first groundbreaking. So, the PLTS project is ongoing, and the first phase has been approved for implementation,” he said.

Furthermore, Bahlil confirmed that the national stocks of fuel and LPG remain secure amid global geopolitical uncertainty. According to him, national energy reserves are still above the minimum standard.

“We also reported on the geopolitical conflict in the Middle East that has not yet ended, but we conveyed that our fuel and crude oil stocks are above the national minimum standard, including the LPG as well,” he said.

Bahlil also confirmed that subsidized fuel and LPG prices will remain stable amid uncertainty in global oil prices.

“We can ensure that there will be no increase in subsidized fuel prices, in line with the decision that has already been made. So, there will be no increase in subsidized fuel and LPG,” he said.

In addition to maintaining the stability of the national energy supply, the Government is also ensuring that fuel needs for fishermen continue to be met.

“The President said that we must pay close attention to fuel for fishermen, so that they can carry out their businesses,” he said, adding that the Government is seeking to increase Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) from the mineral mining sector, including through restructuring the mining sector.
