President Jokowi Wears Betawi Traditional Attire in His State of Nation Address
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Friday (08/16) delivered his State of the Nation Address at the Nusantara Building MPR/DPR/DPD RI, Jakarta during which the President donned traditional Betawi attire.
President Jokowi appeared in black Betawi traditional clothing, complemented by a black peci (traditional cap).
The outfit consisted of a dark closed coat worn over a shirt, along with trousers that matches the coat. A batik cloth was tied around his waist and arranged to reach his thighs.
Meanwhile, the First Lady Iriana looked elegant in a cream-colored kebaya. She finished her appearance with matching fabric and shawl.
Vice President Ma’ruf Amin wore traditional Malay Palembang attire, consisting of a black shirt and trousers. He also wore a type of headband and a cream-colored waistcloth mixed with red. Ma’ruf Amin was accompanied by his wife Wury Estu Handayani, who wore a green Betawi kebaya.
Earlier, the President and First Lady Iriana arrived at the Nusantara Building at around 08:56 Western Indonesian Time. They were greeted by Vice President Ma’ruf Amin and Ibu Wury Ma’ruf Amin. The four of them then entered the Plenary Session Room in the Nusantara Building, MPR/DPR/DPD RI, Jakarta.
At the Nusantara Building, President Jokowi delivered his remarks on the Performance Report of State Institutions in commemoration of the 79th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia.
In the afternoon, President Jokowi also delivered his address on the Government’s Statement on the Draft of State Budget Bill for Fiscal Year 2025 along with its Financial Notes. (ECH/DNS) (AS/EP)
