Bersatu Harmoni Nusantara Carnival Enlivens Indonesia’s 81st Independence Day Celebrations

As part of the celebrations marking the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia, the Bersatu Harmoni Nusantara Carnival (United in the Harmony of the Archipelago Carnival) featured a vibrant procession of creatively decorated floats at the National Monument (Monas) complex in Central Jakarta, Monday (08/17).
President Prabowo Subianto arrived at the Monas complex at around 7:15 p.m. local time, waving and greeting members of the public who gathered at the venue.
The President was welcomed by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka and Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi.
The carnival opened with the crowd singing national anthem Indonesia Raya performed in unison, setting a solemn tone and evoking a sense of national pride.
The event continued with the Sabang to Merauke performance, featuring music and dances that showcased Indonesia’s diverse cultural heritage. This was followed by a marching-band performance by the Indonesia Defense University, which played Indonesian patriotic national song Maju Tak Gentar (Marching Forward Fearlessly), signaling the start of the carnival procession.
A total of 32 decorated floats representing government ministries, agencies, and student groups took part in the procession.
The parade opened with floats from Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the National Nutrition Agency, and concluded with a float from the Indonesian National Police (Polri).
Throughout the procession, President Prabowo Subianto saluted and enthusiastically waved to ministers and participants aboard the floats. Cheers from the crowd added to the festive atmosphere as each float passed by, showcasing the creativity and achievements of the participating ministries and agencies.
The Bersatu Harmoni Nusantara Carnival concluded with a spectacular fireworks display at Monas. The procession of decorated floats not only added to the festivities marking Indonesia’s 81st Independence Day, but also reflected the spirit of unity between the Government and the public in commemorating the nation’s independence.
