President Prabowo Subianto and the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud (MBS), called for concrete international action to end humanitarian crisis in Gaza and to promote lasting peace in the region.

The two leaders issued a joint statement on Wednesday (07/02) at the Al-Salam Palace, Jeddah.

In the statement, the two leaders shared their views on various regional and international issues and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening coordination and actively contributing to global peace and security. President Prabowo and Prince MBS also welcomed the ceasefire agreement among parties involved in the regional conflict and expressed hope that the ceasefire would last.

Indonesia and Saudi Arabia also expressed deep concern over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and reaffirmed their commitment to providing humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people. Both countries called on the international community to take immediate action to end the suffering of the people of Gaza, condemned the use of blockades and starvation as weapons of war, and rejected all forms of forced displacement of Palestinians.

“Both parties also condemn Israel’s policy of using blockades and starvation as weapons against civilians in the Gaza Strip, and completely reject the forced displacement of Palestinians in their homeland and abroad,” the joint statement read.

Indonesia and Saudi Arabia also emphasized that lasting security and stability in Palestine can only be achieved through the implementation of international resolution on the two-state solution, which guarantees the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including the establishment of an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Regarding the crisis in Yemen, the two countries expressed full support for peaceful political measures and stability in the Red Sea region. Both countries also welcomed the lifting of sanctions on Syria by the U.S., the U.K., and European Union as a positive step toward reconstruction, stability, and the return of refugees.
