President Lukashenko Reaffirms Belarus’ Commitment to Strengthening Bilateral Ties

Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko reaffirmed Belarus’ commitment to expanding cooperation with Indonesia across various strategic sectors, including food security, industry, trade, health, and the strengthening of people-to-people ties. President Lukashenko Thursday (07/02) delivered the statement during a joint press statement with President Prabowo Subianto following their bilateral meeting at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta.

According to President Lukashenko, food security remains a crucial sector for both nations. Therefore, Belarus stands ready to support Indonesia’s efforts in strengthening its food self-sufficiency by providing fertilizers, agricultural machinery, and various agricultural technologies.

“To ensure food self-sufficiency, we are prepared to supply even larger quantities of fertilizers, agricultural machinery, farming techniques, and so forth,” stated President Lukashenko.

In addition to reinforcing cooperation in food security, Belarus also expressed its eagerness to expand collaboration in the industrial sector. This support includes the development of the heavy equipment and automotive industries, the enhancement of the quality of human resource through training programs for Indonesian technical personnel, and the establishment of joint ventures.

“We are ready to share the knowledge with Indonesian people, not only here in Indonesia but also at our factories in Belarus. We are also prepared to assist our Indonesian friends in other fields that are needed in Indonesia,” he elaborated.

In the trade sector, President Lukashenko conveyed Belarus’ readiness to boost cooperation through the export of various commodities, including dairy and meat products. Belarus is also opening opportunities for the development of joint projects in Indonesia and expressed its willingness to support cooperation in the health and medical services sectors.

“We are ready to launch various joint projects and expand any form of cooperation in Indonesia. This includes not only trade cooperation but also the establishment of joint venture enterprises and localizing the factories here. Our country is ready to provide human resource support for health and medical training for the Indonesian people,” he specified.

President Lukashenko further welcomed the Indonesian Embassy opening plan in Belarus. As stated by him, the opening of a diplomatic mission, along with direct flights, and visa facilitation, will further strengthen people-to-people ties between both countries while boosting tourism.

“[We] pay very close attention to reciprocal tourist visits. We [warmly] welcome the opening of the Indonesian Embassy in Belarus and visa-free regime that would facilitate the visits by Belarusians citizens to Indonesia, just as we have already done for Indonesians citizens travelling to Belarus,” he remarked.

Furthermore, President Lukashenko emphasized that Belarus would continue to create mutually beneficial cooperation opportunities with Indonesia. He also expressed his appreciation for President Prabowo’s support in strengthening bilateral relations rooted in the spirit of friendship and mutual trust.

“These [measures to boost strategic alliances between two nations] have become possible, thanks to President Prabowo’s drive and support for the Belarusian government in its cooperation with Indonesia.
