President Jokowi Visits Alor Island
During his working visit to East Nusa Tenggara province, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Thursday (10/03) visited the island-regency of Alor,
“This is a beautiful island-regency with extraordinary marine resources. I beleive the Regent and Governor can prepare a master plan and design because the island has the potential to attract as many tourists as possible like Bali and Labuan Bajo,” President Jokowi told journalists.
President Jokowi’s arrival on the island left a lasting impression on the local residents, including school children who eagerly lined the streets to catch a glimpse of the President in person.
“We were in class when we went out to the streets to see him. This is the first time I have seen the President in person,” a junior high school student Alexa said.
Local resident Cherlince expressed gratitude for President Jokowi’s leadership over the past 10 years. “We are proud as this is the first time President Jokowi has set foot in our beloved Alor regency,” she added.
President Jokowi’s visit to Alor regency not only strengthened relations between the Central and regional governments but also brought renewed hope for the development and promotion of Alor’s tourism, aiming to make it as globally recognized as Bali and Labuan Bajo.
