Gives Visa-Free to 30 Countries, Government Hopes 1 Billion US Dollars Foreign Exchange from Foreign Tourists

In Economic Policy Package announced by the Coordinating Minister for Economy Sofyan Jalil, in the office of President, Jakarta, Monday (16/3) mentioned that the government provides short-stay visa-free for tourists to the 30 new countries.

Minister of Tourism Arief Yahya said the 30 new countries whose their citizens obtain short-stay visa-free facility are: 1. China; 2. Japan; 3. South Korea; 4. United States; 5. Canada; 6. New Zealand; 7. Mexico; 8. Russia; 9. England; 10. Germany; 11. France; 12. The Netherlands; 13. Italy; 14. Spain; 15 Switzerland; 16. Belgium; 17. Sweden; 18. Austria; 19. Denmark; 20. Norway; 21. Finland; 22. Poland; 23. Hungary; 24. Czech Republic; 25. Qatar; 26. UAE; 27. Kuwait; 28. Bahrain; 29. Oman; and 30. South Africa.

“Visa-free is one of the easiest ways to increase foreign tourists,” Minister of Tourism Ariel Yahya told to reporters at the Presidential Office, Jakarta, Monday (16/3).

At present, visa free facility, has been given by the Government of Indonesia to tourists from 15 countries, namely: 1. Thailand, 2. Malaysia, 3. Singapore, Brunei Darussalam 4., 5. Philippines, 6. Hong Kong Special Administration Region, 7 . Macao Special Administration Region, Chile 8., 9. Morocco, 10. Peru, 11. Vietnam, 12. Ecuador, 13. Cambodia, Laos 14., and 15. Myanmar.

“Currently, a total of countries that got visa-free become 45 countries. We hope with this policy, our service will be easy and good, because the people which will come to Indonesia no longer need to bother with a visa,” Arief Yahya said.

The government hopes, with an additional 30 countries which given visa free, then the number of tourists that come to Indonesia will increase.

“We hope there will be an additional About a one million tourists, which if converted to dollars, then to 1 billion dollars, because the one tourists were actually 1200 US dollars. I count it safe of 1000 US dollars, and then it reached 1 billion US dollars per year,” Arief Yahya said. (Humas Setkab/ES)
