Statement of President of the Republic of Indonesia after Inspection of Readiness of Pasar Rumput Apartment as COVID-19 Isolation Place, 7 July 2021, Jakarta
This evening, I, along with Minister of Public Works and Public Housing and Head of the Indonesian National Board for Disaster Management (BNPB), inspected Pasar Rumput low-cost apartment to check its readiness as an isolation place for COVID-19 patients with mild symptoms and no symptoms.
Earlier, we have checked, we noticed that the first tower is ready for use with a capacity of 2,060 beds. Moreover, the second and the third tower with a capacity of 5,950 beds will be ready in two to three days. With this preparation, it is expected that if there were a spike in COVID-19 cases, we can anticipate it.
I also urge all governors, regents, mayors in the islands of Java and Bali as well as outside Java island to directly inspect on the ground to monitor the readiness of medicine supply, medical devices, including oxygen tubes, and isolation rooms.
Last but not least, I would like to thank all of doctors, health workers, volunteers for their hard work, dedication, and contribution in handling COVID-19 pandemic.
That concludes my speech on this auspicious occasion.
I thank you. (AP/EP)
