Cabinet Secretariat, S. Korean Government Legislation Ministry to Follow Up MoU on Legislation Cooperation

Cabinet Secretariat Team on Monday (24/6) had a meeting with delegates of Ministry of Government Legislation of the Government of South Korea to follow-up Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Cooperation between both government institutions.

Assistant to the Deputy Cabinet Secretary for International Relations Johar Arifin who spoke on behalf of Deputy Cabinet Secretary for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs in that meeting welcomed the South Korean delegates to Jakarta.

Johar also said that the meeting serves as a momentum and a token of appreciation to follow up the MoU on legislation cooperation between Cabinet Secretariat and South Korean Ministry of Government Legislation.

On September 2018, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo signed an MoU on exchange of knowledge and cooperation on legislation during his state visit to South Korea. Following the visit, South Korean Minister of Government Legislation, on 28 November 2018, delivered a speech at a National Seminar, in Jakarta.

“Today, we will follow up the cooperation by making action plans,” the Assistant to the Deputy Cabinet Secretary added.

At the end of his remarks, Johar expressed hope that cooperation between Indonesia and South Korea will be enhanced and Cabinet Secretariat can deliberate about the legislation cooperation with its counterpart in an in-depth discussion.

Also attending the meeting were, among others, a number of officials of Cabinet Secretariat, officials of Directorate General of Legal Affairs and International Treaties as well as Directorate General of Asia Pacific and Africa Regions of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Director Legislation Exchange and Cooperation Division of Ministry of Government Legislation of the Republic of Korea Kim Namyeon, Deputy Director Ministry of Government Legislation of the Republic of Korea Lee Kijae, Deputy Director Ministry of Government Legislation of the Republic of Korea Lee Yeonji.
