The General Election Commission (KPU) has officially named Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and Ma’ruf Amin as the elected President and Vice President for the 2019-2024 period.

The decision is stipulated in the Decree of the General Election Commission of the Republic of Indonesia Number: 1185/PL.01.9-Kpt/06/KPU/VI/2019 on the Official Announcement of the Elected Presidential and Vice-Presidential Candidates in the 2019 General Election. The decree was read by Chairman of the KPU Arief Budiman during the Plenary Session at the KPU Office, Jakarta, Sunday (30/6).

The Copy of the KPU Decree was handed over to Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung –representing the Government–, representatives of election participants, representatives of state institutions, and representatives of election organizers.

For the record, Jokowi and Ma’ruf Amin secured 85,607,362 votes (55.50%) in the last Presidential election and will be inaugurated in October 2019 as the President and the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia for the 2019-2024 period. It will be the second period for Jokowi as the President of the Republic of Indonesia, after being President for the 2014-2019 period with Jusuf Kalla as the Vice President. (RSF/DNA/ES)
