President Jokowi Signs Presidential Instruction to Speed Up Reconstruction in West Nusa Tenggara

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has signed Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 7 of 2020 on the Acceleration of Repair and Reconstruction of Community Houses in Areas Affected by Earthquakes in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province.

In the FIRST Dictum, the President gives general instruction to relevant officials to accelerate the completion of the repair and reconstruction of community houses in areas affected by earthquakes in West Nusa Tenggara Province by using ready-to-use funds not later than December 2020.

The General instruction is submitted to: 1. Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture; 2. Minister of Home Affairs; 3. Minister of Finance; 4. Commander of the Indonesian National Defense Forces; 5. Chief of the Indonesian National Police; 6. Head of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB); 7. Head of the Development and Financial Supervisory Agency (BPKP); 8. Governor of West Nusa Tenggara Province; 9. Regent of West Lombok; 10. Regent of North Lombok; 11. Regent of Central Lombok; 12. Regent of East Lombok; 13. Mayor of Mataram; 14 Regent of Sumbawa; and 15. Regent of West Sumbawa.

In the SECOND Dictum, the President gives specific instructions to Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Minister of Home Affairs, Minister of Finance, Commander of the Indonesian National Defense Forces, Chief of the Indonesian National Police, Head of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), Head of the Development and Financial Supervisory Agency (BPKP), Governor of West Nusa Tenggara Province, Regent of West Lombok, Regent of North Lombok, Regent of Central Lombok, Regent of East Lombok, Regent of Sumbawa, Regent of West Sumbawa, and Mayor of Mataram.

In the SECOND Dictum, one of the duties of Head of the BNPB is to propose a budget allocation to the Minister of Finance to fund the accelerated completion of repair and reconstruction of community houses in areas affected by earthquakes in West Nusa Tenggara Province, with the following categories:

• Rp 50,000,000 (fifty million rupiah) for heavy damage;
• Rp 25,000,000 (twenty five million rupiah) for moderate damage; and
• Rp 10,000,000 (ten million rupiah) for minor damage.

According to the Instruction, all the aforementioned officials must implement the Presidential Instruction very responsibly.

“The Presidential Instruction shall come into force as of the date of its issuance,” the Instruction reads. The Presidential Instruction was signed on 19 August 2020 by President Jokowi. (EN)
