Gov’t Announces Public Holidays for 2021

The Government has announced public holidays and collective leave days for 2021.

“There are minor changes from the previous plan. The Eid al-Fitr holidays are moved to 12, 13, 14, 17, 18, and 19 May. So, the collective leave days of Eid al-Fitr in 2021 will be on 12, 17, 18, and 19 May. Meanwhile, for Christmas, there is an additional collective leave day on 27 December. The total public holidays and collective leave days in 2021 will be 23 days,” Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy said during the Virtual Ministerial Meeting on National Holidays and Collective Leave Days in 2021, Thursday (10/9).

The Joint Decree (SKB) on Public Holidays and Collective Leave Days for 2021 was signed by Minister of Religious Affairs, Minister of Manpower, and Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reforms.

Muhadjir said that the decision on national holidays and collective leave days for 2021 was based on various considerations, including the traffic flow before and after long holidays and the opportunity to increase regional and national economy from the tourism sector.

“I hope it can be used as a guideline for all of us. The joint decree can be signed based on today’s meeting results,” Muhadjir said.

In the meantime, Ministry of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reforms will immediately amend the regulation for the State Civil Apparatus (ASN) according to the results of the meeting while Ministry of Manpower will issue a Circular on the implementation of collective leave days in the private sector.
