Transportation Ministry Extends Regulation for Domestic, International Transport during Pandemic

Ministry of Transportation has issued Circulars on guidelines for domestic and international passenger transport, extending the implementation of health protocols for domestic and international travel starting from 26 January until 8 February 2021.
“Referring to the policy of the COVID-19 Task Force in overcoming the high level of transmission of COVID-19 in Indonesia, an extension of strict implementation of health protocols for domestic and international passenger transport will apply from 26 January to 8 February 2021,” Spokesperson for Ministry of Transportation Adita Irawati said in Jakarta, Tuesday (26/01).
For the record, the COVID-19 Task Force on 26 January 2021 issued Circular Number 5 of 2021 on Extension of Travel Provisions for Domestic Passenger during COVID-19 Pandemic and Circular Number 6 of 2021 on International Transportation Health Protocols in Indonesia during COVID-19 Pandemic.
In the meantime, Ministry of Transportation has issued Circular Number 8 of 2021 (Land Transportation), Circular Number 9 of 2021 (Sea Transportation), Circular Number 10 of 2021 (Air Transportation), Circular Number 11 of 2021 (Railways), and Circular Number 12 of 2021 (international air transportation).
Adita explained that the content of the five Circulars issued by Ministry of Transportation are generally the same as the previous Circular expired on 25 January 2021.
She further explained that the new Circulars provide the following additional provisions:
First, any passenger who will travel by train is obliged to show a certificate of negative COVID-19 test (GeNose test or rapid test antigen or RT-PCR test). The test should be taken within a maximum period of 3 × 24 hours before the departure time for intercity train travel on the islands of Java and Sumatra.
Second, random tests using rapid antigen or GeNose test will be conducted on land transportation, river transportation, lake transportation, ferry transportation and vehicles, including transportation between national borders, inter-provincial transportation, intra-provincial transportation, inter-provincial shuttle, and tourism.
Ministry of Transportation has also instructed all transportation operators to comply with all regulations and provide information to the public.
The Ministry also appeals to prospective passengers to follow the aforementioned provisions and always follow health protocols. (PR of Ministry of Transportation/UN) (RI/LW)
