Press Statement of President of the Republic of Indonesia During Inspection of Mass COVID-19 Vaccination to Public and Students at the Regent’s Office, 3 October 2021, in Merauke, Papua Province

This afternoon I was in Merauke regency, Papua province to inspect the vaccination drive here.

I want to ensure that the vaccination from Sabang (in Aceh province) to Merauke runs well and evenly. And I see here the enthusiasm of the public is very good. I hope this vaccination will provide protection to the public so that they are not infected by COVID-19 and we can curb the spread of COVID-19 as well as possible.

In Merauke, I see students and the public are all enthusiastic. I hope the enthusiasm of the public for the vaccination program can also be felt in all districts and cities across Papua province.

I would like to express my deepest gratitude and appreciation to the traditional leaders and religious leaders who have given understanding to the public. And also to all residents of Merauke and Papua regencies who have been enthusiastic to participate in the vaccination drive organized by the regional government.

COVID-19 may never completely disappear. Thus, I remind everyone to learn to live side by side with COVID-19 and to remain disciplined in implementing health protocols, particularly to wear face mask.
