Statement of President of the Republic of Indonesia on Policies for International Travelers and Health Protocol Guidelines during Ramadan and Eid-al-Fitr 1443 Hijri, at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, March 23, 2022
Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Until yesterday, March 22, 2022, the situation of the COVID-19 pandemic in our country has continued to improve. Therefore, the Government has decided to relax some measures.
International travelers arriving via airports throughout the country are no longer required to go through quarantine. However, the Government still requires travelers arriving from abroad to carry out a PCR swab test. If the PCR test is negative, you can leave and continue activities. However, for those with positive PCR results, they will be handled by the COVID-19 Task Force.
The improving pandemic situation also brings optimism ahead of the holy month of Ramadan. This year, Muslims can perform congregational Tarawih prayers (evening Ramadan prayers) at the mosque with the implementation of health protocols. People who want to go back to their hometown for Eid are also allowed, provided that they have received a full dose of vaccination and a booster jab as well as apply strict health protocols.
However, we still prohibit government officials and employees from performing congregational iftar and organizing an open house.
I hope we can maintain this improving trend. I urge all of us to continue to observe health protocols, remain disciplined in using masks, washing our hands, and keeping our distance.
I thank you.
Wassalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
