Statement of President of the Republic of Indonesia on Joint Eid al-Fitr Leave 1443 H, at Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java Province, April 6, 2022
The Government has set a two-day national holiday for Eid al-Fitr 1443 Hijri on May 2 and 3, 2022 as well as four days of joint Eid al-Fitr leave on April 29 and May 4-6, 2022.
Decisions regarding this joint leave will be regulated in detail through a Joint Decree by relevant ministers. The public can use this joint leave to stay in touch with parents, family, relatives, and friends at home.
However, I emphasize that the pandemic is not over yet. We all must stay carefully vigilant, immediately have booster vaccines, continue to follow health protocols in a disciplined manner, and must always wear masks in public places or among crowds. The number of mudik (annual homecoming) travellers this year is estimated to reach 85 million people. Out of this number, it is estimated that around 14 million travellers are from Jakarta and its greater areas (Jabodetabek) and 47 percent of the travellers will use personal vehicles.
The Government will work hard to provide maximum service so that travellers can travel safely and comfortably. I thank you.
Wassalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
