President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi Monday (06/27) held a bilateral meeting to discuss efforts to strengthen cooperation in the food sector on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Elmau, Germany.

“Regarding cooperation related to food trade between the two countries, I will order the Indonesian Minister of Trade to immediately communicate with the Indian Minister of Trade,” the President said.

On the situation in Ukraine, President Jokowi reiterated the importance of the war to come to an end.

“I’m glad that Indonesia and India have more or less the same take. We are pressing for a peaceful settlement,” the President said.

On the occasion, President Jokowi also expressed appreciation for India’s strong support for Indonesia’s G20 Presidency. Indonesia will also fully support India’s G20 Presidency next year, he said. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/UN) (FI/MMB)
