VP Ma’ruf Amin: Economic and Political Stability is Key to Sustainable Investment
Vice President Ma’ruf Amin inaugurated Investment Service Award (ALI) 2022, on Wednesday (10/12), at the Grand Ballroom of Fairmont Hotel, Central Jakarta. In his remarks, the Vice President emphasized the importance of economic and political stability for investment sustainability in the country.
“Economic and political stability is key to investment sustainability, because without the stability, investors will opt out of the investment plan, no matter how interesting the investment economically,” the Vice President stated.
According to the Vice President, some elements such as regulation certainty, land availability, and infrastructure preparedness are important to maintain investment stability in Indonesia.
“Stability in the context of investment capital is more than ensuring macro economic condition and legal certainty. Other substantial elements are, among others, regulation certainty, institutional matter, land availability, infrastructure preparedness, central-regional coordination, human resources capacity, and the role of business sector,” the Vice President explained.
Furthermore, the Vice President stressed that invesment existence is the backbone of the economy since it not only creates job opportunities and produces goods/services, but it also helps to create added value for Indonesian economy.
“Investment becomes vital since it can support development sustainability, create added value, boost economic justice, and it even helps to realize economic democracy,” he said.
In the forum attended by ministerial/institutional leaders, regional heads, and policy makers of Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and Free Trade and Free Ports Regions (KPBPB), the Vice President expressed hope that all stakeholders can reach joint solutions to various related issues, and provide ease in investment sector.
“I hope that all stakeholders can offer exchange of solutions on various services and ease of doing business. So, all elements can learn each other and adopt more efficient and accountable best practices,” the Vice President added.
Previously, Minister of Investment/Head of Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Bahlil Lahadalia ensured that the Ministry of Investment/BKPM will continue to cooperate with all stakeholders in boosting the investment growth in Indonesia.
“Investment in Indonesia must be boosted in order to create new economic growth region,” Bahlil said.
For the record, ALI is an award ceremony where awards are given out to regional governments (Pemda) and ministries/institutions that achieve best scores for investment service performance stipulated in the Ministerial Decree of Investment/Head of BKPM.
Attending the event were Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucracy Reform Abdullah Azwar Anas, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif, and Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono.
