Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh,

First, on behalf of myself and the Government, allow me to offer my deepest condolences over earthquake that hit Cianjur regency, West Java province.

Yesterday, I ordered Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy, the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI), the National Police (Polri), Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing to join hands deploying the ranks in supporting post-disaster management, including by cleaning and opening roads blocked by landslide debris.

Second, I also ordered them to prioritize evacuating, searching, and rescuing victims buried by the landslide.

Third, the Government will provide cash aid to heavily damaged houses, moderately damaged houses, and moderately damaged houses.

Heavily damaged houses will receive Rp50 million, moderately damaged houses will receive Rp25 million, and slightly damaged houses will receive Rp10 million.

However, the most important thing is to ensure that the construction of quake-affected houses comply with earthquake-resistant building standards set by Minister of Public Works and Public Housing. Since the BMKG (the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency) said that the earthquake usually occurs every 20 years, we aim to build earthquake-resistant houses.

That concludes my remarks.

Generally, I am pleased that the roads that were covered until yesterday have been opened. Afterwards, we will speed up the handling particularly related to evacuation process.

I thank you.
