SATRIA-1 Satellite to Speed Up Digital Connectivity in Indonesia

Indonesia’s SATRIA-1 satellite will accelerate digital connectivity across the nation and maintain the national sovereignty, according to Vice President Ma’ruf Amin.

“The satellite will connect all regions in the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia,” the Vice President said in a press conference after soft launching ceremony of the digital public service mall at the Vice Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday (06/20).

The SATRIA-1 satellite was launched on Monday (19/06) from Cape Canaveral, Florida, United States of America. The satellite was developed by PT Satelit Nusantara Tiga (SNT) and was assembled by Thales Alenia Space (TAS) in France. It will facilitate internet services in 50,000 points of public facilities with a speed of 4 Mbps and is predicted to accelerate internet access in underdeveloped, frontier and outermost areas.

The Vice President further said that the SATRIA-1 will also improve public services, especially in terms of digital transformation through digital public service malls.

Vice President Ma’ruf Amin also expressed optimism that the satellite will bring benefits to the development of Indonesia.
