The Indonesian National Police (Polri) has launched Tribrata Agung Operation to ensure security during the 2023 Archipleagic and Island State (AIS) Forum Summit scheduled for October 10-11 in Bali.

Polri will deploy around 4,083 personnel consisting of 1,863 personnel from the National Police Headquarters (Mabes Polri) and 2,220 personnel from the Bali Regional Police (Polda Bali).

“The operation focuses on preemptive and preventive measures reinforced by law enforcement, cybersecurity, Interpol, public relations, with a goal of maintaining security and social order during the AIS Forum Summit,” said Head of Public Relations of Tribrata Agung Operation Task Force Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan as quoted by the 2023 AIS Forum’s Communications and Media Team, Friday (10/06).

According to him, the six-day operation will start from October 8-13 within the jurisdiction of the Bali Regional Police, particularly in areas where the Summit’s activities take place.

Ahmad also mentioned that the National Police provides security support for the Presidential Security Details (Paspampres) and the Joint Regional Defense Command (Kogabwilhan) II in rings 3 and 4 areas, which include areas where summit activities take place and hotels for heads of state attending the Summit.

Meanwhile, Paspampres and Kogabwilhan II are responsible for handling emergencies and the rescue of heads of state, and will be assisted by the National Police if necessary.

“In a contingency (emergency) situation, efforts to rescue ministers of the AIS Forum Summit’s delegations will be under the responsibility of the National Police by implementing the contingency plans as regulated in Safe Operations Nusa I, II and III,” he explained.

On that occasion, Ahmad revealed that the National Police will deploy 160 personnel and vehicles under the operational command of Paspampres to escort the VVIPs.

In this operation, the National Police uses the Command Center 91 ITDC Nusa Dua as the central post for security activities during the 2023 AIS Forum Summit, which is equipped with comprehensive features to monitor personnel movements, security vehicles, communication lines, internal Polri applications, and external applications from related agencies that will enable the anticipation of potential security threats to heads of state, ministers, and delegations.

For the record, Indonesia will host the 2023 AIS Forum Summit under the theme “Fostering Collaboration, Enabling Innovation for Our Ocean and Our Future.” The Summit’s agenda will prioritize three key aspects: the development of the blue economy, addressing the challenges of climate change, and enhancing solidarity among island and archipelagic countries.

The AIS Forum serves as a global communications and cooperation network for all island and archipelagic countries. It was established in 2018 in Manado and was the manifestation of Indonesia’s idea initially presented at the United Nations (UN) Ocean Conference in New York in 2017. (UN) (RIF/EP)
