President of the Republic of Indonesia (Joko Widodo)

Yes. The most important thing, first, we must boost (rice) production so if there is a lot of supply, prices will remain. Second, I have ordered Minister of Agriculture to focus on rice production since we have not been able to reduce the price (of rice) even though it has not increase anymore.

How about regional heads?

President of the Republic of Indonesia (Joko Widodo)

As for regional heads, just yesterday, I ordered them to take measures if there are unexpected prices spike of any commodity using unexpected expenditure from the budget. This can be done, be it for transportation costs, distribution, or seeking supplies from production sites. I think if that is done, I am sure (prices will be stable). Nevertheless, I think the prices here are still fair.

Journalist
Is that based on your observation?

President of the Republic of Indonesia (Joko Widodo)

(The prices) are still fair.

Journalist

You said there would be assistance for capital, Sir?

President of the Republic of Indonesia (Joko Widodo)

Yes. As usual, so that people can have more working capital, so they can increase their business capacity.

Journalist
How much, Sir?

President of the Republic of Indonesia (Joko Widodo)

You can ask the merchants.

Journalist
Your thoughts about the PDIP’s disappointment because you are now distancing yourself from them, Sir?

President of the Republic of Indonesia (Joko Widodo)

What did you discuss during your meeting with the presidential candidates the other day, Sir?

President of the Republic of Indonesia (Joko Widodo)

Pardon?

Journalist
About your meeting with the presidential candidates, Sir.

President of the Republic of Indonesia (Joko Widodo)

I invite them to work hand-in-hand to ensure that the general elections run in a peaceful manner. No more slanders, negative campaigns, and degrading each other. Let’s do it by competing programs and ideas. I think that is what the people want.

Journalist
How about vice-presidential candidates?

President of the Republic of Indonesia (Joko Widodo)

The Vice President will invite them later.

Journalist
Thank you, Sir.

President of the Republic of Indonesia (Joko Widodo)

You’re welcome.
