Another Gold Medal for Indonesia from Sport Climbing
Indonesia dominates the sports climbing by bagging a gold medal and a silver medal in womens event and a bronze medal in the mens event, in the competition held at JSC Sport Climbing, Palembang, South Sumatera Province, Thursday (23/8).
Indonesias woman rock climber Aries Susanti Rahayu clinched a gold medal, making it the nations 8th gold in the Asian Games.
Aries beat her compatriot Puji Lestari in the final session with a speed record of 7,61 seconds. The two Indonesian women climbers made it to the final after brushing aside a Chinese pair of Song Yiling and He Cuilan, who eventually had to settle with the bronze.
For the record, Aries was the champion of IFSC (the International Federation of Sport Climbing) World Championship held in Chongqing, China, on June 5 this year.
Meanwhile in the men’s speed discipline, Indonesia secured a bronze medal from male climber Aspar Jaelolo. The gold and silver medals were won by Irans Alipour Reza and Chinas Zhong Qixin.
The host country has so far collected 8 gold, 6 silver and 10 bronze medals, ranked number 5 in the 18th Asian Games tally after China, Japan, South Korea and Iran as of Thursday evening. (*/ES) (STU/EP/Naster)
