Cabinet Secretary Reveals Organization of Cabinet Meeting on New Setkab Podcast
Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung and Presidential Special Staffer Putri Tanjung talked about President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s Cabinet on a newly-launched podcast from the Cabinet Secretariat.
During the podcast, Pramono told Putri that President Jokowi has two secretaries, namely Minister of State Secretary and Cabinet Secretary who led two different institutions.
“The President as Head of State works with state institutions, the House of Representatives, and the Regional Representatives Council (DPD) which are the task of Pak Pratik (Minister of State Secretary). On the other hand, as head of Government, the President’s tasks are mostly handled by my office,” he said in the podcast, which is uploaded on Cabinet Secretariat’s official YouTube channel on Friday (02/04).
Pramono went on to say that the Cabinet Secretariat has a task to manage the organization of cabinet meetings including the limited meeting as the highest decision-making forum at the Cabinet.
“All decisions (are made) at the cabinet meeting. For instance, decisions about vaccination, evaluation of public activity restrictions (PPKM) are made by the President at cabinet meeting,” he said,
In addition, he meeting, he added, also serves as a forum for the ministers to propose a policy before getting approval from the President.
In this regard, the Cabinet Secretariat plays an important role since it proposes subject of the cabinet meeting to the President.
Upon receiving the President’s approval, the Cabinet Secretariat will make preparation to organize the cabinet meeting, where the subject will be further discussed. Afterwards, the President will deliver his directives in the cabinet meeting.
According to Pramono, the Cabinet Secretariat is also the one who decides time allocation for the ministers to deliver their presentation based on priority; therefore, he added, the meeting will run effectively.
Pramono added that Cabinet Secretariat must always be ready to organize cabinet meetings anytime anywhere, including during the President’s working visit to regions. (MAY/FID/TGH/DND/JW/UN) (RAS/EP)
