Ministry of Health has unveiled two mechanisms for registration and implementation of COVID-19 vaccination for elderly people, namely vaccination at health care facilities and mass vaccination.

Spokesperson for COVID-19 Vaccination Siti Nadia Tarmizi made the announcement in a press conference on YouTube channel of Ministry of Health, Friday (19/02).

According to Nadia, for the first mechanism, the vaccination participants can register directly on website of Ministry of Health www.kemkes.go.id or website of the Committee for COVID-19 Handling and National Economic Recovery website www.Covid19.go.id.

The link available on the website, she added, replaces the previous link circulating in the public and the previous link is declared no longer usable.

“For participants of vaccination who have filled out the link, there is no need to worry because we ensure that your data is safe and stored in the provincial health offices,” Nadia said.

For the second mechanism, Nadia pointed out that it will be carried out through mass vaccination which could be held by organizations or institutions in collaboration with Ministry of Health and the provincial or local health offices.

For the implementation of the mass vaccination, the organizations or institutions will collect and register data of the elderly in their respective areas, she added.

“After the registration, the organizations and institutions will cooperate with provincial and local health offices to determine implementation, including the time of mass vaccinations. The organization will notify the participants who have registered for the mass vaccination schedule and place,” she said.

In the implementation of vaccination, Nadia underscored that Ministry of Health has also prepared measures to anticipate the possibility of an adverse events following immunization (AEFI).

“To anticipate the emergence of the AEFI, each vaccination will have a representative contact person from the regional commission or the AEFI focal point who can be contacted by the organizing committee or the implementing health facility,” she said.

Nadia further said that Ministry of Health and health offices will ensure that the vaccination process complies with strict health protocols.

Nevertheless, Nadia reminded the public to always observe health protocols (washing hands, wearing a face mask, and maintaining a distance) during the pandemic, including among those who have received the vaccination. (UN) (RI/LW)
