Govt Calls For Caution Before Installing Apps
Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Informatics has called on the public to learn the terms and service agreements before downloading any apps on their gadgets.
The statement was made by the Ministrys Director General of Informatics Application Semuel Abrijani Pangerapan in response to the widespread use of FaceApps ageing filter.
The popular use of the Russian-made app has sparked security and privacy risk concerns in many countries, indicating that the company behind the app will sell their users data to the Russian Government.
However, according to the latest press statement by the FaceApp spokesperson, the company does not share the users data with third parties nor transfer its data to Russia.
It also states that most images are deleted within 48 hours, Semuel added in Jakarta, Tuesday (23/7).
Although the statement made by FaceApp claims no users privacy has been breached, Semuel advised the people to remain cautious and always well-inform in advance before installing any apps. Semuel also said that the Government will always monitor the development of the app.
Other countries are also doing the same thing, he said. (Puspen Kominfo/ES)
