Ministry of Religious Affairs and the House of Representatives Commission VIII (Religious, Social, and Women’s Empowerment Affairs) on behalf of the Government have agreed on the Hajj Pilgrimage Cost (BPIH) for 1441 Hijr calendar or 2020, which is set at Rp35,235,602.

The Government has reached the agreement on BPIH at a Working Meeting between Ministry of Religious Affairs and the House of Representatives Commission VIII in Jakarta, Thursday (30/1). “The BPIH for 1441 Hijr calendar or 2020 will be the same as last year’s cost,” Minister of Religious Affairs Fachrul Razi said.

According to the Minister, the BPIH covers flight, accommodation in Mecca (SAR9.71), and living cost (SAR1,500). Although the cost does not increase, this year’s services will improve, in which meals in Mecca will increase from 40 in 2019 to 50 times in 2020.

In addition, zoning system for accommodation in Mecca and Mina will be based on embarkations. The meals will also have Indonesian taste based on the origins of hajj pilgrims.

“SAR300 of Visa fee is also included in the BPIH for 1441 Hijr calendar or 2020,” he added.

Fachrul Razi went on to say that the amount of BPIH which was agreed by the House and the Government is vital for the implementation of hajj since it will be a footing for the President to stipulate the BPIH as mandated in Article 48 of Law Number 8 of 2019 on the Implementation of Hajj and Umrah which states that the BIPH is stipulated by the President based on recommendation from the Minister and approval from the House.
