Gov’t Rolls Out Unemployment Benefits Program
The participants of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan (Workers Social Security Provider Body) who meet the requirements can claim the benefits of the Unemployment Benefits Program (JKP), Ministry of Manpower has announced.
“In 2022, there will be around 629 thousand JKP beneficiaries,” Head of the Ministry’s Public Relations Bureau Chairul Fadhly Harahap stated, Tuesday (02/22).
Although it has not been officially launched, Chairul continued, the program has been in effect and the participants can claim for its benefit from February 11, 2022. “As of February 18, there have been around 48 people who have claimed the JKP benefits,” he added.
For the record, the JKP program is a safety net provided for workers who have been laid off and wishes to work again, who have a contribution period at least 12 months within 24 months and pay contributions for six consecutive months before the layoffs. The beneficiaries will receive cash, job market information, and job training.
The requirements for JKP participants are Indonesian citizens who have been included in the social security program according to Presidential Regulation Number 109 of 2013 on the Stages of Participation in the Social Security Program, namely for large and medium scale businesses, included in the program of Health Insurance (JKN), Work Accident Insurance (JKK), Old-Age Benefits (JHT), Pension Insurance (JP), and Death Benefits (JKM).
Moreover, small and micro businesses are included at least in the programs of JKN, JKK, JHT, and JKM. In addition, workers must not age of 54 years in the time of first registration. (PR of Ministry of Manpower/UN) (GWH/MUR)
