As part of the Government’s healthcare transformation, Ministry of Health has announced it is focusing on preventive services.

“We will strengthen community health centers and integrated healthcare posts with healthcare services that are promotive or educational and preventive,” Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin said after a limited meeting led by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo at Merdeka Palace, Friday (10/06).

According to Budi, one of the measures is carrying out regular medical check-ups at healthcare service facilities.

“For example, the most common diseases in our country are stroke, heart disease, and cancer, meaning we have to regularly check our blood pressure so that we do not suffer a stroke. It must not be more or less than 80-120. It is not hard. Rather than having a stroke due to high blood pressure, it would be better to take medicines and consult the doctor,” he said.

Budi added that President Jokowi also underscored that the infrastructure for primary healthcare services should be made ready soon to bring maximum benefits to the public.

“The President ordered that the public gets benefits especially because we are having the peak demographic bonus. If our people are unhealthy, if our people are not smart, we will lose momentum to become a developed country, to manifest golden Indonesia,” he remarked. (TGH/UN) (DH/EP)
