Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian issued Instruction of Home Affairs Minister Number 12 of 2022 on Enforcement of Public Activity Restrictions (PPKM) Level 4, Level 3, Level 2 in the Islands of Java and Bali.

The Instruction taking effect from 22 to 28 February 2022 regulated that the PPKM Level is adjusted based on two indicators; implementation of public health and social activity restrictions in communities and vaccination coverage of the second doses.

Regencies/municipalities can adjust PPKM Level from Level 3 to Level 2 once vaccination coverage of the second dose reached 50 percent of target and 40 percent for elderly.

Regencies/municipalities can adjust PPKM Level from Level 2 to Level 1 once vaccination coverage of the second dose reached 70 percent of target and 60 percent for elderly.

“They will have two weeks from 15 February 2022 to achieve vaccination coverage goal as intended. If they have failed to meet the target in two weeks, the PPKM Level is determined based on indicator of public health and implementation of social activity restrictions in communities in handling COVID-19 pandemic imposed by the Ministry of Health and vaccination coverage,” Tito said.

For the record, the Government imposed PPKM Level 4 to four regencies/municipalities in three provinces, such as municipalities of Cirebon in West Java, Tegal and Magelang in Central Java, and Madiun in East Java.

The Government also imposed PPKM Level 3 to 99 regencies/municipalities in seven provinces including the Capital Region of Jakarta, and PPKM Level 2 to 25 regencies/municipalities in three provinces. During this period, there is no regency/municipality implementing PPKM Level 1. (Ministry of Home Affairs/AIT/UN) (RAS/LW)
