Indonesia Advances to 3rd Round of World Cup Qualifiers

The Indonesian national football team on Tuesday (06/11) beat the Philippines 2-0, and advanced to the third round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and First Lady Ibu Iriana watched the match at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Jakarta.

“I think our football fans are happy because we have advanced to the 3rd round of the new FIFA system. This is a historical moment, and this is our best achievement so far,” the President said in his statement after the match.

Apart from advancing for the third round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers, the result also ensured that Indonesia would qualify for the 2027 Asian Cup finals.

President Jokowi extended his appreciation for the achievement and praised the team and coach Shin Tae-yong for the hard work.

Indonesia’s 2-0 victory over the Philippines was secured after Thom Haye scored a goal in the 32nd minute and Rizky Ridho scored the 2nd goal in the 55th minute. With this victory, Indonesia was in the second place of the Group F, with 10 points from six matches.

In the third round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers, 18 countries will be divided into three groups, each containing six teams.
