President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo asserted that Indonesia is ready to host upcoming national and international events following the inauguration of Indonesia Arena indoor stadium that can seat 16,000 people at full capacity.

“We hope after the inauguration various national and international events can be held in Indonesia Arena. It adds the number of indoor stadiums in Indonesia. I also think it has high standards,” he said after inaugurating Indonesia Arena, in Senayan, Jakarta, Monday (08/07).

The construction of the stadium completed in only 18 months with a total budget of Rp640 billion. The President expected that the stadium will not only be used to host sport events but also arts and cultural events.

“If I’m not mistaken, there will be more concerts than sport events,” he said while expressing hope that the stadium can bring positive impacts to the national economic growth since money will be circulated during music concert and sport events.

On that occasion, the President also explained that the Indonesia Arena will be audited by the Development Finance Comptroller (BPKP). (FID/UN) (RAS/MMB)
