The Government is taking measures to prepare for the world-class MotoGP racing event at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit for the 2023 racing calendar, according to Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno.

“It is the second time for Indonesia to host the MotoGP event. The race will be very interesting because at the end of the racing season the point gap between the top racers is very close,” Sandi said after attending a limited cabinet meeting in Jakarta, Wednesday (10/04).

For the record, the Indonesian MotoGP will be the 15th series of the 2023 MotoGP and will be held at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit, Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara on 13-15 October 2023.

The Minister said that the Mandalika MotoGP had a significant economic impact of up to Rp3.5 trillion and will be supported by the public and President Joko Widodo.

According to Sandi, the President has ordered Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy and Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises to further develop new tourist destinations.

Sandi also emphasized the importance of synergy among all stakeholders in developing tourist destinations.

“We also hope that the institutions managing five super priority destinations can work hand in hand so that there will be more investment, in line with this year’s theme of World Tourism Day, namely Investment and Green Tourism,” he remarked. (FID/UN) (RI/LW)
