Let us Use Cultural Diversity to Strengthen Cooperation: President Jokowi
Starting his first visit to the Republic of Mozambique, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Wednesday (08/23) attended the invitation of President of the Republic of Mozambique Filipe Nyusi at the opening ceremony of the 11th edition of the National Culture Festival at the Estádio da Matola, Maputo.
“Let’s use our cultural diversity to unite us. Let’s use our cultural diversity to strengthen our cooperation for our people,” President Jokowi said before the people of Mozambique.
According to President Jokowi, Indonesia is similar to Mozambique in cultural diversity matters. “Indonesia is also home to a diverse culture. We respect differences. We respect every culture in our community,” he added.
On the occasion, President Jokowi also stated that his first visit to Mozambique was special for he could attend the cultural event.
“It is an honor for me to be invited in this national cultural event. This makes my visit to Mozambique special,” President Jokowi remarked.
On the occasion, President Nyusi expressed appreciation to President Jokowi for the state visit.
“I would like to express my gratitude to my friend, His Excellency President of the Republic of Indonesia, who has come to visit Mozambique,” President Nyusi said. (BPMI Presidential Secretariat/UN) (GWH/LW)
