Remarks of President Prabowo Subianto at the Inauguration of K. H. Muhammad Thohir Regional General Hospital in Pesisir Barat Regency, Lampung Province, June 10, 2026

Distinguished Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, as the organizer of this event, along with all officials of Ministry of Health in attendance;
Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Cabinet Secretary of the Republic of Indonesia Lieutenant Colonel Teddy Indra Wijaya;
Governor of Lampung Rahmat Mirzani Djausal, Regent of Pesisir Barat regency Dedi Irawan, together with the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) of Pesisir Barat regency, whom I highly respect, and the Vice Regent, whom I also highly respect;
Honorable and esteemed traditional leaders, religious leaders, and community leaders;
Head of K.H. Muhammad Thohir Regional General Hospital, Ms. Eva Hadaniah Asryati;
President Director of PT Pembangunan Perumahan, Novel Arsyad, representing the contractor of the hospital;
Honorable doctors, specialist doctors, and medical personnel;
Distinguished guests in attendance;
Members of the press and media present here today, whom I highly respect.
As people of faith, let us never cease to offer our praise and gratitude to Allah subhanhu wa ta’aala, the Almighty God, the Creator of all the worlds. To Him alone we pray, and from Him alone we seek help. We are grateful for all the blessing, goodness, peace, and health that He has bestowed upon us, so we are able to gather here to inaugurate the K.H. Muhammad Thohir Regional General Hospital.
I warmly welcome this occasion and it is both an honor and a pleasure for me to be here today. I am also pleased to note that the people of Pesisir Barat regency, particularly in the city of Krui, now have access to adequate healthcare services.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
We aspire to build a strong and thriving economy. We want our natural resources and national wealth to be managed in a way that enables us to provide better public services. I am deeply saddened to learn that some people have lost their lives due to severe bleeding during childbirth because the journey to the nearest hospital took too long. This is a problem that we must resolve.
The Government will continue to improve healthcare services. I have agreed with Minister of Health and the wider Government, that over the next three years, we will build, where necessary, or rehabilitate and renovate 350 to 400 hospitals in districts across Indonesia. We will also renovate and modernize 10,000 community health centers (Puskesmas) throughout the country. The program has already been planned.
Moreover, the Government is currently implementing the National Healthcare Services Modernization Program. To date, we have distributed nearly 1,000 units of advanced medical equipment and begun deploying them to regional hospitals in all 514 regencies/cities. As noted earlier, this hospital has already been equipped with modern medical technology, and we will continue to further strengthen these capabilities.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
We built 22 regional general hospitals in 2025, and will construct 22 more in 2026. In addition, we will also build and modernize 350 hospitals within the period of three years. Alhamdulillah, thank God, the construction of 20 hospital has been completed in serving the public. I expect this hospital to be managed effectively, maintained in a clean and orderly condition, and operated with professionalism, transparency, and a strong commitment to serving the public. The people and the wider community must be able to feel the real and lasting benefits of this hospital.
I hope this hospital, the K.H. Muhammad Thohir Krui Regional General Hospital, will become a leading center of healthcare services that meet the expectation of the people of Pesisir Barat. Let me reiterate there must be no misuse of authority and corruption in the provision of services to the people. We will strive to provide medicines at the lowest possible cost, and I hope that within the next year, we will begin supplying affordable generic medicines to the people.
