Palestinian Foreign Minister Thanks Indonesia for Its Support

Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs Riyad al-Maliki paid a courtesy call on President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Monday (15/10).

On that occasion, Riyad al-Maliki conveyed greeting from Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and his appreciation to Indonesia for the relationship and support that Indonesia has always given to Palestine.

Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, after accompanying President Jokowi to meet the Palestinian Foreign Minister, said that Riyad al-Maliki praised Indonesia for always support for the Palestinian cause.

According to Retno, Riyad al-Maliki further said that the bilateral relation between Indonesia and Palestine is “so warm and so brotherly” and that Palestinian people also appreciate the Solidarity Week for Palestine that is organized by Indonesia.

Therefore, Retno Marsudi continued, Riyad al-Maliki expressed his gratitude to Indonesian Government for the consistency of the support, not only in terms of political support but also in other forms including capacity building and financial support for refugees.

“So the point is that Palestine expressed its gratitude to the Indonesian Government and Indonesian people for the continued support and it really appreciates our presence and our continued support for the struggle of the Palestinian people,” Retno concluded.
