President Jokowi gives a virtual speech at the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) Studium Generale, Monday (2/11).

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo invited the scholarship awardees of the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) to seize the opportunities provided by the state by diligently pursuing education, building networks, and preparing for the future of the young generation and Indonesia.

“I would like to congratulate the scholarship awardees. This is a golden opportunity to learn, to build networks, to prepare for your future and Indonesia’s future,” President Jokowi stated at the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) Studium Generale, Monday (2/11).

The LPDP scholarship awardees, the President said, are the younger generation who have been selected to study at the best universities, both at home and abroad. For that reason, the President advised them to pursue new emerging knowledge. “Disruption occurs in all aspects of our lives: automation, artificial intelligence, big data, and others, which are not only technological phenomena that affect the economic landscape but also the social, political, and cultural landscape,” he said.

President Jokowi also advised the awardees to hone their skills and strengthen their characters. “Being a student opens up opportunities to hone your leadership and managerial skills which will be very useful after your graduation,” he said.

The President also encouraged the awardees to strengthen their sense of nationality, humanity, and ‘Indonesianness’. “I am aware that you come from various parts of Indonesia with different ethnicities, religions, but you are fellow Indonesian compatriots,” he stated.

Finally, the President urged the awardees to represent Indonesia in the international community. “For those of you who are studying abroad, show that Indonesia is peaceful and united, full of tolerance, and always (embodies its motto of) Unity in Diversity. Promote Indonesia in the international community to travel to Indonesia, to invest in Indonesia, which brings merit to the future of Indonesia,” he said.

On this occasion, the President also encouraged the awardees to pursue education as well as possible as well as to complete it on time. (BPMI/UN)
