President Jokowi Announces Cabinet Reshuffle
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo accompanied by Vice President Ma’ruf Amin announced six new ministers in cabinet reshuffle, on Tuesday (22/12), at the veranda of Merdeka Palace, Jakarta.
“On this auspicious occasion, let me announce new ministers in the Indonesia Onward Cabinet,” the President said.
Surabaya Mayor Tri Rismaharini will be promoted as Minister of Social Affairs. Former Deputy Governor of Jakarta, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, had been given the task of Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy.
Former President Director of state-owned bank Bank Mandiri and former Deputy Minister of State-owned Enterprises, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, will lead Ministry of Health.
In the meantime, Chairman of Nahdlatul Ulama’s (NU) Youth Wing Organization (GP Ansor) Yaqut Cholil Qoumas will replace Fachrul Razi as Minister of Religious Affairs.
Deputy Minister of Defense Sakti Wahyu Trenggono is set to be promoted as Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, while Indonesian Ambassador to the United States, Muhammad Lutfi, will lead Ministry of Trade.
