President Jokowi Appoints Acting Minister Following Sports Minister Resignation
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has stated that he accepted the resignation of Minister of Youth and Sports Zainudin Amali from his position.
“The Minister has met me this morning. He submitted his resignation letter to the Ministry of State Secretariat and I approved it,” the President said after the inauguration of the Kesiman Kertalangu Integrated Waste Treatment Facility (TPST) in Denpasar, Bali, Monday (03/13).
Following the Minister’s resignation, the President appointed Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy as the Acting Minister of Youth and Sports.
On that occasion, the Head of State also said that he is still weighing the options of finding the successor of Amali.
“We will make a decision immediately, just wait for the successor. However, an acting minister has been appointed after all,” he said.
Previously, the President has given permission for Zainudin to concentrate and focus on national football matters since he was elected as one of the deputy chairpersons of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI).
“I have received approval from the President to focus on national football-related matters,” Zainudin said in his statement after meeting the President along with PSSI officials at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Monday (02/20). (FID/UN) (RIF/RAS/LW)
