President Jokowi Asks Ministers, TNI Commander, Polri Chief to Maintain Political Stability

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo asserted that the nation’s political condition must be conducive. Therefore, President Jokowi asked the Ministers of the Working Cabinet, Commander of the Indonesian National Defence Forces (TNI), Chief of the Indonesian National Police (Polri), and others to not act and make statements that make people worried and confused.

The President requested that if there are issues between institutions, they be resolved in a conducive manner. “Discuss the issues at the Coordinating Ministerial level, if not resolved, then bring it to the Vice President, if still not resolved then discuss the issues with me,” President Jokowi said when giving introductory remarks at a Plenary Cabinet Meeting at the State Palace in Jakarta on Monday (2/10) afternoon.

The President reminded all in attendance that the 2018 will be a political year. There are simultaneous regional head elections, legislative elections, and presidential election. To that end, the President ordered all parties not to conduct things that can create controversy. “Let us just work. And if there is in doubt then raise the issue to the Limited Meeting. Once again, we want to continue to maintain harmony, tranquility, unity amongst us and also in society,” the President said.

As Head of Government, as Head of State, as the Supreme Commander of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, the President instructed all government officials to focus on their respective duties, continue to work together, create synergy. “Let us keep the political, economic stability, improve our performance and achievements in supporting all programs related to the development of our country,” the President concluded.

The Plenary Cabinet Meeting was attended by Vice President Jusuf Kalla, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Wiranto, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Darmin Nasution, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Puan Maharani, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut B. Pandjaitan, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Presidential Chief of Staff Teten Masduki, Ministers of Working Cabinet, TNI Commander Gen.
