The Government, through the Ministry of Transportation, continues to carry out assimilation process between online transportation services with the conventional ones in order to manage them well.

This statement was conveyed by Minister of Transporation Budi Karya Sumadi when responding to the journalists’ questions after a Limited Meeting on Online Transportation Management, Tuesday (18/7) at the Presidential Office, Jakarta.

“Alhamdulillah, a collaboration between Gocar, Bluebird, Grab, Uber, taxis, and angkot (public minivan) has been established and it will be continued,” the Minister said while adding that it is impossible to avoid a change.

In the future, the Vehicle Registration Number Certificate (STNK) of these online transportations will be different from the regular one and all drivers or riders should have a general Driver’s License in order to guarantee people’s safety and security. They are also obliged to have an insurance,” the Minister added. It is in accordance with Regulation of Minister of Transportation Number 26 of 2016 on Unscheduled Public Transportation Services. The Minister also stated that the Government also continues to carry a dissemination on quota and ownership.

To consolidate the aplicator and corporation as well as cooperative institutions, the Government shall be able to require them to make a company’s regulation. Actually, a number of regulations have been issued but they are not formal and not yet known by the Government.“There is already a regulation that regulates rights and obligations. Later, we will make it more formal, in particular manpower’s rights and obligations,” the Minister added and said that the Government does not want to create obstacles that can cause a high cost.

Those are important points from President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo. A regulation should not make things complicated. “Take some measures that are efficient and can be accepted by the people,” the Minister said.

The Government does not want to make a regulation that does not give benefits for the people. “Ministry of Transportation is ready to give the best solution for them. It is the concern of the President,” the Minister concluded. (RMI/JAY/EN)(MMB/YM/Naster)
