Despite the flattening of the COVID-19 cases curve and public activities returning to normal, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has told the public to stay vigilant to maintain the recovery momentum.

“We must all stay vigilant. We must maintain the recovery momentum. For this reason, I appeal to the public to continue the full dose vaccination process as well as a booster shot to prevent transmission,” the President said in his statement at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Monday (05/30).

According to the President, the booster shot plays a vital role, while citing data from Minister of Health showing that the booster shot can increase immunity up to two times compared to the second dose of vaccination.

“The booster shot is also needed to protect the elderly and vulnerable people or those with comorbid diseases from COVID-19 transmission,” he added.

The Government, he added, has an adequate supply of booster COVID-19 vaccines; hence, the President urged the public to immediately have a booster shot for free at vaccine facilities.

“Don’t be picky about the type of vaccine because all vaccines have the same benefits: to protect us all from the pandemic we are facing.  Let’s keep this good momentum together so that Indonesia can recover and the economy can rebound,” the President remarked. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/UN) (FI/MMB)
