President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has called for the need to pursue green economy and digital economy in order to align the economy with global developments.

“In the long term, I see that we have strength in green products and in the green economy, which I think now all regional countries are starting to see that direction,” President Jokowi said virtually during the 2021 Kompas100 CEO Forum, from the State Palace, Jakarta, Thursday (21/01).

The increased public awareness on environmental sustainability, the President said, will make green products and economy continue to thrive. At a later stage, it is believed that this will affect the global economy and business, including the country’s economy, he said.

“This will develop. We have a great opportunity to enter into the green products and economy in terms of production, distribution and consumption,” the President stated.

In addition to the green economy, the Head of State also saw that today, all sectors must inevitably enter the digitalization stage. Amid the current rapid digital economy, our industry must adapt to technological developments, he added.

“The Government, education, even the health sector must all enter into digitalization so that they are more efficient, competitive. We, then, can compete with other countries,” he said.

All parties, the President said, must be able to answer these challenges and opportunities. According to him, the year 2021 can be used as a momentum for all to rise up and get through the crisis to make Indonesia an increasingly resilient and advanced country. (FID/BPMI/UN) (FI/MUR)
