President Jokowi Discusses Global Economic Situation with IMF Managing Director

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo had a meeting with Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Kristalina Georgieva at Jepara room, Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Monday (09/04) and discussed about  the global economic situation.

“President Jokowi exchanged views with the World Bank and the IMF about the global economic situation,” said Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno LP Marsudi after accompanying President Jokowi in the meeting.

According to Retno, President of the World Bank President and the IMF Managing Director expressed their appreciation for Indonesia’s economic achievements and praised Indonesia’s economic growth as well as Indonesia’s ability to suppress the inflation.

“The IMF Managing Director even said that ASEAN is a bright spot in the middle of difficult world situation and Indonesia is said to be the source of joy, source of hope,” Retno stated.

“This also provides a lesson for other developing countries that if Indonesia can do it, then other developing countries must also be able to do it,” she added. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/UN)(RKW/EST)
