President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo distributed community aid in the form of cows for the celebration of Eid al-Adha 1445 Hijri (an Islamic holiday). This community aid distribution was announced formally by Head of the Presidential Secretariat Heru Budi Hartono to all governors and acting governors, Friday, June 14, 2024.

“This morning, in the presence of Mrs. Deputy, Mr. Head of Bureau, all the governors, and all the acting governors, I handed over the President’s community aid in the form of cows for the celebration of Eid al-Adha 1445 (Hijri),” said the Head of the Presidential Secretariat to media crew at the Presidential Palace Compound, Jakarta.

Heru said that the sacrificial cows were to be distributed to all provinces in Indonesia, one cow for each province. In addition, one cow was also to be handed over to the Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN) this year.

“Each province including OIKN will get one cow. The President has also given special directives saying that some additional cows will perhaps be distributed to OIKN,” he continued.

The cows that President Jokowi distributed as community aid varied in weight from 800 kilograms to one ton. Heru said that in distributing this aid, the Presidential Secretariat collaborates with several related agencies to ensure that the cows to be distributed are healthy and in good condition.

“The Presidential Secretariat certainly collaborates with the local Agriculture and Livestock Agencies and also the Director General at the Ministry of Religious Affairs. We ensure that all the cows have gone through a series of health examinations in their selection process so that they are guaranteed to be free from diseases,” he added.

Meanwhile, the sacrificial cow for the Istiqlal Mosque, Heru said, would be handed over on Friday afternoon (06/14) or Saturday. (BPMI of the Presidential Secretariat) (TM/MUR)
