Indonesian President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo has extended his deepest condolences over the passing away of King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand.

“On behalf of the Indonesian Government and the Indonesian people, I would like to extendmy deepest condolences on the passing away of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej,” President Jokowi said during a press conference at the Merdeka Palace on Thursday (13/10) night.

According to President Jokowi, the King’s modesty and concerns for his people should be emulated. “The world has lost a leader who was close to his people, a bearer of peace, unity, and prosperity for the people of Thailand,” the President added.

King Bhumibol, 88, passed away at 3.52 pm local time after being hospitalized for years. He was the world’s longest-reigning monarch and was on the throne since 1946, a total of 70 years.(BPMI Setpres/ES)  (EP/YM/Naster)
