President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Friday (03/24) welcomed Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia Zuhair Al-Shun at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta.

Following the meeting, the Palestinian Ambassador expressed his appreciation for Indonesia’s continued support for the struggle of the Palestinian people for independence.

“The President of Indonesia has always closely followed developments on the ground in Palestine, and in this case, the Indonesian Government strongly opposes all kinds of violations and violating policies committed by Israel. This is what President of Indonesia said today,” the Ambassador said.

The Ambassador also said he told President Jokowi about the latest development and dynamics in Palestine, while expressing belief that the continuous support does not only come from the Indonesian Government, but also from the Indonesian people.

“We believe Indonesia will never change and we see that the support is always consistent from both the Government and the Indonesian people. We once again would like to extend our highest regards to the President of Indonesia and the entire Indonesian people for their consistent support for the Palestinian issue,” he added.

The Palestinian Ambassador also wished all Muslims in Indonesia a happy Ramadan.

“I am pleased to meet with His Excellency Mr. President to wish a happy Ramadan upon this blessed month and we hope Indonesia will become a developed and prosperous country,” he remarked. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/AIT) (FI/EP)
